Understanding from Emmanuel

Over the past week, we have been studying the gospel program of God on earth. This gospel program is God’s divine plan in action. It is a spiritual design and activity of God directed toward two main purposes:

  1. The salvation of humanity for eternal life.

  2. The restoration of humanity back to God.

Man lost peace and relationship with the Father because of sin. Just as a loving father desires the return of his prodigal son or daughter, God desires to bring His children back into His Kingdom from which they were separated.

We examined this program through John chapter 1, verse 17, which tells us that the law was given through Moses. When we speak of Moses, we speak of the children of Israel, because God chose Israel as His people in order to reveal Himself and ultimately bring all humanity back to Him.

The law was part of a dispensation. God works according to times and seasons. Heaven represents God, and the earth represents man. When heaven moves, the earth responds. Those who are connected to God move in alignment with Him. God is not the author of confusion; He is a God of order, steadfastness, and discipline.

So how can someone return to the Father after being outside His presence? The answer is through the Word. John chapter 1, verse 1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” We cannot return to the Father without following His Word, because disobedience to that Word caused separation in the first place.

God is not a magician. He works through principles and truth. The Word gives us understanding and protects us from deception. A person who knows the Word cannot easily be deceived. Even when the devil tempted Jesus, he failed because Jesus stood firmly on the Word of God. When we are rooted in the Word, no power can cause us to fall away.

There was the dispensation of the law during the time of Moses. As time progressed, God continued His work in different ages and dispensations. God is progressive in His dealings, always working according to time and season to restore people to Himself.

Grace came through Jesus Christ. Through faith and the preaching of the Word, we become children of God. Grace and truth came through Jesus. Grace introduces us to salvation, and truth perfects and matures the Church through sound teaching of the Word.

The Church is not a building; it is a person born again by the Holy Spirit. When someone is rooted in the Word, they become stable, joyful, honest, and spiritually strong. Nothing can overcome them because the Word of God is power.

God’s program through the ages is to restore humanity to Himself.

We also discussed the different conditions within the church:

  • The false church, influenced by symbols, images, and demonic dominion.

  • The fallen church, which began in the Holy Spirit but drifted because of sin and worldly influence.

  • The true Church, born again in the Holy Spirit and standing firmly on the teachings of Christ.

The true standard is the doctrine of Christ, which is the Word of God. When we understand and walk in the Word, we understand the mind of the Father and become faithful sons and servants through Christ Jesus.

Understanding from Elect Lady

We also learned about division in the early church. In 1 Corinthians chapter 1, some said they followed Paul, others Apollos. This spirit of division came from the enemy. The apostles corrected it, teaching that we are not to follow men but God.

In the time of Israel, God spoke through the law of Moses. But Hebrews chapter 1 teaches that in these last days, God speaks to us through His Son. The program of today is not merely the law but Christ Himself.

Many think we are only in the age of grace, but grace was the introduction to salvation. Truth matures us into full-grown sons of God who can inherit the Kingdom. The Kingdom represents the restoration of authority and dominion that was lost through Adam’s sin.

God is now manifesting Himself through His Word to grow believers into full stature sons of God.

Main Teachings

When we speak of God’s programs, we mean His intentions, plans, and purposes — the will of heaven. These programs are mysteries. According to 1 Corinthians chapter 2, the wisdom of God was hidden as a mystery. It was concealed so that the enemy would not destroy the plan of salvation.

Jesus spoke in parables because the mysteries of the Kingdom were not given to everyone. Just as a password protects important information, the mysteries of God protect His divine plan from being hijacked by the enemy.

The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Christ came that we might have life and have it abundantly.

From the beginning, when Adam fell, God did not abandon humanity. All of creation was spoken into existence, but when it came to man, God said, “Let us make man.” Humanity is God’s most precious creation. He would not allow His creation to be lost without putting a restoration plan into motion.

Even though man was corrupted, God established a divine program through different ages and dispensations to bring humanity back to Himself.

Even though humanity has been contaminated by sin, the Lord always seeks a way to restore us to our original state — to bring us back to our default setting. For this restoration to happen, He establishes channels, which we call programs. These programs are divine processes through which He leads us back to Himself, even when we have gone far away from Him.

To understand what we mean by “programs,” think of someone who wants to become a medical doctor. There are specific programs and stages that guide that person toward that goal. You must pass through a school system. You do not complete everything at once. It is not compressed into a single step. It is divided into levels according to age and capacity.

Your age determines your level. If you are under five years old, you attend nursery, kindergarten, or preschool. As you grow older, you move to higher levels. Your age represents your time and generation. If you are 39, that is your time. If you are 40 or 50, that is your time.

In school, your age determines your class because it reflects what your mind can handle. Advanced teaching is not given to someone who cannot process it. Only when you grow and mature are you given deeper knowledge.

For example, in elementary mathematics, you learn basic arithmetic — addition and subtraction. You are taught that 1 plus 1 equals 2, and 2 plus 2 equals 4. If you have 2 and take away 1, you are left with 1.

But in elementary school, if you are asked, “What is 2 minus 4?” the answer would be: impossible. At that stage, they do not teach negative numbers. Your mind is not yet prepared to understand them. So you are told it has no solution.

However, when you advance to higher levels, such as junior or senior high school, you are taught about negative numbers. Then you understand that 2 minus 4 equals negative 2. What once seemed impossible now has a solution.

At the elementary stage, many things appear to have no answer. But at an advanced level, you discover that every problem has a solution.

Now let us bring this into the spiritual realm.

In Hebrews chapter 6, verse 1, it says, “Leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection.” This refers to moving beyond elementary spiritual principles.

What are these elementary principles? Repentance from dead works, faith toward God, baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

At the elementary stage of spiritual growth, a person sins, asks God for forgiveness, sins again, and asks again. God forgives, because the person is still spiritually a child. But the question is raised elsewhere in Scripture: “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” The answer is, “God forbid.”

If someone keeps sinning and repenting repeatedly without growth, they cannot reach maturity. God cannot entrust serious Kingdom responsibilities to a spiritual child.

Think of it this way: if you promise a child an airplane, you would give them a toy airplane, not a real one. Why? Because they are not mature enough to handle the real thing. They would misuse it or destroy it.

In the same way, if someone continually falls into sin without growing, God cannot commit serious Kingdom matters into their hands. That does not mean He rejects them, but growth is expected. If growth does not happen when it should, then there is a problem.

God’s programs reveal His intentions, His plans, and His will. Many of these plans were hidden as mysteries. Scripture says that if the rulers of this world had understood the mystery of God’s plan, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

When Jesus was crucified, those responsible believed they were stopping His mission. They thought they had defeated Him. They did not realize that His crucifixion was necessary for grace to come to humanity. Without the cross, salvation would not have been made available to mankind.

That is the wisdom of God’s programs.

By definition, gospel programs are spiritual designs and activities of heaven — not man-made systems. They are divine plans and operations of God on earth. They are intentionally designed for two main purposes:

  1. The salvation of humanity.

  2. The restoration of humanity back to God.

These programs reveal how God, in His order and wisdom, works through different stages and ages to bring His people back to Himself.

These gospel programs are designed with two main purposes: salvation and restoration.

They begin with salvation and end with restoration. However, between salvation and restoration, there are many stages and processes. The ultimate goal is the restoration of mankind back to God and into eternal life.

Scripture says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This means that outside the Son of God, there is no eternal life. Everlasting life is found only in Him.

Now, as we have been taught during the week, let us briefly examine the first gospel program.

The First Gospel Program: The Program of the Law

The first gospel program was the program of the Law. This was the age of the fathers and the prophets — the front runners of that time. These men were the spokesmen of God for that age.

God’s intention in this program was to form a nation — a physical nation — called Israel. Israel is known as God’s elect nation. No matter what happens in history, this nation cannot be wiped out because God chose them. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. What God has elected cannot be undone by man.

However, this election was after the flesh — it was physical, not spiritual.

Through the Law, God established Israel as a nation governed by His commandments. The commandments of God became their constitution. Though there were many laws, they were summarized in the Ten Commandments. These commandments formed the foundation of the nation of Israel.

The Law functioned like a two-edged sword:

  • If you obeyed it, you lived.

  • If you disobeyed it, you faced judgment.

Some sins required sacrifice for atonement. Others carried severe penalties. Under the Law, judgment could be immediate.

Scripture says that with many of them God was not well pleased. Why? Not because the Law was faulty — the Law is spiritual and perfect. The problem was not the Law. The problem was man.

Man was carnal.

The Problem of Carnality

God’s Law is spiritual because God is Spirit. But man was flesh. Carnality — living according to the flesh — was the issue.

Even today, many hear the Word of God regularly. They attend church, read Scripture, and listen to teachings. Yet they do not fully obey the Word. Why? Because of the flesh.

Flesh and blood respond only to what they can see and touch. If they cannot see it, they struggle to believe it. This was the case with Thomas, who said he would not believe Jesus had risen unless he could see and touch Him. That is carnality.

Scripture teaches that in the flesh it is impossible to please God. The flesh wars against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. As long as someone is controlled by the flesh, they cannot fully obey God.

This is why that first age was very physical.

A Physical Age

In that age, prophets had to perform signs and wonders to prove that God sent them. Miracles were necessary to convince the people. The Red Sea parted. A pillar of fire guided them by night and a cloud by day. Manna fell from heaven. Water came from a rock.

Everything was physical because the people were carnal and could not perceive spiritual realities.

But miracles are not the true measure of God’s presence. If you judge God’s work only by signs and wonders, you can be deceived. Miracles alone are not proof of spiritual maturity. They were necessary at that stage because the people were spiritual children.

The deeper issue was that the majority were not hearing God directly. Only leaders like Moses and the prophets heard from God and spoke on His behalf.

Carnality means living daily life without hearing from God — waking up, going about activities, sleeping, and repeating the cycle without spiritual communion. A person can live years without ever truly hearing God’s voice. That is life in the flesh.

Scripture says flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. They have no portion there.

The Purpose of the Gospel Programs

One purpose of the gospel programs is to make us spiritual — to move us from carnality to spiritual sensitivity so that we can hear God.

When God truly speaks to a person, that revelation transforms them. A genuine encounter with God changes a person automatically. They cannot remain the same.

In the first covenant, the Law was spiritual, but man was carnal. That was the fault.

Hebrews chapter 8 explains this clearly: if the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second. The fault was not with the covenant itself but with the people. Because they were carnal and could not continue in it, God promised a new covenant.

He said He would make a new covenant with the house of Israel and Judah — not like the one made when He led them out of Egypt.

The first covenant revealed the problem: human carnality.

The later programs would address that problem by moving humanity from flesh into Spirit, from external law to internal transformation, from salvation toward full restoration in God.

“…with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them,” says the Lord.

“But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the Lord: “I will put My laws into their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No longer will each one teach his neighbor or brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least to the greatest.”

The New Covenant

In the first covenant, the Law was written on tablets of stone — external and visible. It was outside of them.

But in the new covenant, God says He will write His law in their minds and in their hearts.

Under the old system, the law was written in Scripture, in synagogues, on mountains, and in physical locations. People debated where worship should take place — in Jerusalem or on a mountain. But under the new covenant, worship is in spirit and in truth.

Why? Because the Word is no longer external — it is internal.

When you memorize something, it is stored in your brain. That is mental knowledge. But when something is written in your heart, it becomes spiritual reality. You do not forget it. It becomes part of who you are.

The heart represents the spirit and soul of a person. That is the eternal side of man. What is written in the heart shapes your thoughts, your actions, and even your dreams. Scripture says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”

If evil fills the heart, evil thoughts dominate the mind. Even in sleep, those thoughts manifest. But if the Word of God is written in the heart, you meditate on it. You think on it. And it shapes your life.

When the Word fills your heart, even in your quiet moments, God begins to reveal things to you — about yourself, about your future, about what lies ahead. He prepares you.

The Second Gospel Program: Grace

The second program is the gospel program of grace.

Grace serves as:

  1. An introduction to Christ

  2. An introduction to spirituality

Through grace, you are born again.

Your first birth was from your parents — flesh and blood. That birth is natural. But the second birth is of God. It is spiritual.

Those born of flesh are flesh. Those born of God are spirit.

To be born again means to be born of the Spirit of God and become a child of God. A true child hears the Father’s voice. Without this spiritual birth, you cannot truly hear from heaven.

As long as a person remains only in the flesh, heaven feels distant — up in the sky somewhere. But when you are born of God, heaven is no longer far away. Heaven is within you.

Christ in you becomes your connection to the Father. He becomes your link to hear, receive, and act according to God’s will.

Scripture says, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” He becomes your hope, your strength, your existence.

Your identity is no longer based on education, family background, marriage, or status. Your life is rooted in Christ.

Spirituality begins when you hear and obey God. Jesus said He did only what pleased the Father. That is true spiritual maturity.

Grace introduces you as a child of God. But a child must grow.

A child has all the features of adulthood, but they are undeveloped. The child hears but does not understand fully. Sees but does not yet discern. Gradually, through growth, senses mature.

Grace lays the foundation.

Roots, Lineage, and Foundation

Grace establishes new roots — a new foundation and a new lineage.

When you trace natural lineage, you may see patterns — anger, lust, addiction, wickedness — passed down through generations. Scripture speaks of sins affecting generations. These patterns can feel embedded, almost like part of one’s DNA.

Breaking free from inherited patterns requires entering a new lineage.

In Christ, your spiritual genealogy changes. Your foundation changes. Your identity changes. The old inheritance loses its power.

Grace begins this transformation — a recreation of your spirit, the renewal of your mind. But that process continues further.

The Third Gospel Program: Truth

If grace establishes the roots, truth builds the structure.

Truth develops you toward perfection — toward the fullness of the measure of the stature of Christ.

Salvation alone does not mean you have overcome. You are saved, yes — but you must overcome the world and the flesh.

This is why Scripture speaks repeatedly of overcoming (see Book of Revelation chapters 2 and 3).

Perfection means development.

Just as education develops the mind, truth develops your spiritual senses:

  • Eyes to see

  • Ears to hear

  • Understanding to discern

Grace brings salvation.
Truth teaches and strengthens.

Knowledge of God becomes power — power to defend your salvation.

Under grace alone, a believer may receive salvation but not yet have the strength to protect it. Without teaching and growth, a person may fall back into old patterns because they do not know how to guard what they received.

Truth equips you to maintain, defend, and walk out your salvation.

Why Growth Is Necessary

Without spiritual development, you remain vulnerable.

Grace saves you.
Truth strengthens you.
Perfection prepares you to overcome.

This progression is intentional. The gospel programs move from salvation to restoration — from being born again to becoming mature sons and daughters who overcome the world.
