Bible Study: Gospel Salvation
Opening Prayer
Thank God for the gift of salvation in Christ.
Ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart and grant understanding as you study His Word.
1. What is Gospel Salvation?
Definition:
The freedom of your spirit man from the bondage of sin in the world into the righteousness of God in Christ.
John 8:32 – “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Romans 6:18 – “Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”
Key Point: Salvation is not just forgiveness of sins, but deliverance from the power of sin into the life of Christ.
2. Why Do We Need Freedom?
a) To Serve God Freely
Matthew 6:24 – “No man can serve two masters...”
Romans 6:16 – Whoever you obey, you become their servant.
Reflection: Without freedom from sin, we cannot truly serve God.
b) To Be Like Christ
John 14:30 – Jesus said, “The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”
1 John 2:6 – “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”
Reflection: Christ was free, pure, and victorious. Salvation makes us like Him.
c) To Begin the Journey of the Kingdom
Matthew 13:19 – The seed of the Word begins the Kingdom in the heart.
Luke 8:11 – “The seed is the word of God.”
Reflection: Salvation is the entrance into the Kingdom life.
3. The Role of the Word in Salvation
Matthew 13:3–9 (Parable of the Sower)
The Word = Seed
The Heart = Soil
The Condition of the Heart = Determines fruitfulness
Teaching vs. Preaching
Preaching: Proclaims and attracts.
Teaching: Explains and transforms.
Reflection: True salvation requires the Word to abide in our hearts, not just hearing it.
4. Condition of the Heart
Proverbs 4:23 – “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Luke 8:15 – “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”
Reflection: A humble, childlike heart is the right soil for God’s Word.
5. Application / Discussion Questions
In what areas of my life do I still feel bound to sin?
Do I approach the Word of God with a heart that is ready to receive and obey?
How can I practice being childlike and teachable in my walk with Christ?
Am I just hearing preaching, or am I letting teaching transform my heart?
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for the salvation You have given in Christ.
Free my heart from every bondage of sin, and plant Your Word deeply in me.
Make me fruitful, teachable, and like Christ in all things.
Amen.
