Matthew 6:30-33 Explained
Matthew 6:30-33 Explained
Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Matthew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Matthew 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
- Jesus calls those who seek food, clothing, and shelter are fools.
- Why?
- Language is essential to understand it.
- This verse, Jesus is speaking in Aramaic.
- The New Testament was written in Greek.
- “Gentiles seek” when Jesus tell this in Aramic, That particular word he uses has the meaning of "when we get food to dog, before giving it, the dog rushes and ask for it fast”.
- That's the word Jesus uses here.
- Don't seek for food, clothing and housing like a dog who seeks his food.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
- It does not say, 'Seek only the kingdom of God'.
- At first, Seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
- Secondly, seek food, clothing, housing.
- Here the term "Seek" is "the same Aramaic word found in Matt 6:32".
- That's the word Jesus uses here.
- In the same way, we must seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness like a dog who seeks his food.
If We want to seek God's kingdom and His righteousness, we must seek 5 things.
- Being a good heavenly citizen, who seeks the King Jesus. (Isaiah 55:6)
- He who is a good citizen lives by humble himself and uplifts others and prays. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
- He attends Sunday worship regularly. (Hebrews 10:25)
- Tithe regularly (Malachi 3:8-10).
- Protect the name of God, the name of the church, the name of the believers from being corrupted. He will proclaim the gospel. (Nehemiah 4:6; Matt 28:19)
If we do these 5 things, the Lord will give us everything.
