Temples of the New Testament
Temples of the New Testament
Temple of the Holy Spirit:
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
- The body of every individual Christian is the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
Temple of the Jesus:
Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
- In Bible times, the person in the middle is the leader.
- Jesus says this, When two or three people gathers in synagogue.
- Synagogue is the Temple of the Jesus.
In Hebrew Knesset
In Greek synago-geh
In English synagogue
- When 2 or 3 of the Temples of the Holy Spirit gathers in the name of Jesus, that is the Temple of Jesus.
For Eg: house meeting, prayer meeting, women's meeting, youth meeting, fasting meeting, all night prayer meeting
Temple of the Father God:
1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
- Here You is mentioned in the plural form.
- God is referred to the Father God.
- Paul is speaking to the church in Corinth.
- so the Temple of the Father God is Church.
In English - Church
In Greek - Ecclesia
Ec - from outside
Clesia - come and gather together
- Ecclesia (congregation) is when all the people in the synagogue comes out and worship the Lord together in a great gathering.
- We must give importance to all these three.
- Only then can we function as a complete New Testament Temple.
- Because in the New Testament, God does not dwell in temples made with hands.
- The church is different, the church building is different.
- Church building is made of only bricks and stones.
- But the Church means, the people who gather in church.
The Word of the New Covenant (Scripture) should be there inside the New Testament Temple (Within our hearts).
