Why is the book of "James" called "James" and not "Jacob"?
Why is the book of "James" called "James" and not "Jacob"?
- In the 17th century, there was an evil and homosexual king in England.
- His name was James.
- He wanted to win people's hearts because he was a very bad person.
- But people hated him.
- So, he thought of translating the Bible into English to win their hearts.
- He told the translators that he wanted to give his name to one of the Bible character.
- The translators thought the best Bible Character to give the king's name was Judas Iscariot.
- But they were afraid that the king would kill them, if he heard this.
- They did not want to give the King’s name to the good Bible Character.
- Therefore, they thought of naming the king after Jacob.
- They thought that the king would realize that “Jacob” means Heel holder/supplanter.
- So they wanted to keep the Old Testament “Jacob” as “Jacob".
- But all of the New Testament names of “Jacob” were changed to “James” to that king’s name.
