Why is the book of "James" called "James" and not "Jacob"?

Why is the book of "James" called "James" and not "Jacob"?

  • In the 17th century, there was an evil and homosexual king in England.
  • His name was James.
  • He wanted to win people's hearts because he was a very bad person.
  • But people hated him.
  • So, he thought of translating the Bible into English to win their hearts.
  • He told the translators that he wanted to give his name to one of the Bible character.
  • The translators thought the best Bible Character to give the king's name was Judas Iscariot.
  • But they were afraid that the king would kill them, if he heard this.
  • They did not want to give the King’s name to the good Bible Character.
  • Therefore, they thought of naming the king after Jacob.
  • They thought that the king would realize that “Jacob”  means Heel holder/supplanter.
  • So they wanted to keep the Old Testament “Jacob” as “Jacob".
  • But all of the New Testament names of “Jacob” were changed to “James” to that king’s name.
